iRecovery Works Course Outlines

At iRecovery Works, we have started with offering four specific courses, Assessment, Case Management, Concurrent Disorders and Drug Classes and the Brain. Each course has been pre-approved by the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF) for 10 continuing education units, CEU’S.

A brief outline of each course is listed below.

Assessment Course

This course will provide counsellors with the knowledge and skills needed to conduct a thorough and comprehensive substance use assessment of clients who have issues with alcohol and other substances.

Assessment is the fourth skill listed in the certifications manual which states:

“Assessment is the procedures by which a counsellor/program identifies and evaluates an individual’s strengths, weaknesses, problems and needs for the development of a treatment plan.”

Case Management Course

This course will examine the complexity of case managing clients who have a diagnosis of substance use disorder.  With each passing year, clients have become increasingly complex, burdened with layers of issues that did not exist or were not identified within the 20 years ago. This course will provide knowledge to addiction counsellors to navigate through the issues to facilitate healing for our client

Case Management is the seventh skill listed in the global Criteria which states:

Case management can be defined as activities that bring services, agencies, resources or people together within a planned framework of action toward the achievement of established goals. It may involve liaison activities and collateral contacts.

Concurrent Disorders Course
